Practice Manager

April comes to Total Spine and Brain Institute of North Carolina with over 23 years’ experience in Neurosurgery. Born and raised in Bluefield, WV, she then attended National Business College and moved to Winston Salem shortly after graduation. She began working under Dr. David Kelly, chair of the Department of Neurosurgery at Bowman Gray School of Medicine in 1997. Her role in the department evolved from scheduler to administrative coordinator over the ensuing years. She saw the department grow from 4 surgeons to 12 and was fundamental to every aspect of the practice. She brings depth of experience and competence to TSBINC and is integral to our practice. She cares deeply for every patient and will always put our patients first. April is married to Jeff Hayes and together they have two sons and one grandchild with one the way. She spends her time away from the office traveling with her family, to which she is deeply devoted, and spoiling her grandson.
