Andreas Runheim, MD

Dr. Runheim earned his B.S. from Mars Hill College in 1997 before receiving his M.D. from Wake Forest University School of Medicine in 2001. He completed his Internal Medicine internship at the University of North Carolina Hospitals (2001–2002), followed by a Neurology residency at Duke University Medical Center (2002–2005) and a fellowship in Clinical Neurophysiology at Duke (2005–2006). He is board-certified in Neurology by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology and is an active member of the American Academy of Neurology.

Clinical Interests

Dr. Runheim has a strong background in clinical service, having previously served as a student clinician at the Samaritan Ministries Free Medical Clinic in Winston-Salem, as well as volunteering as a clinic assistant and phlebotomist at a general medicine clinic in Madison County. An avid traveler and athlete, Dr. Runheim is deeply committed to advancing patient care. He consistently seeks innovative solutions to enhance neurological care and outcomes, actively researching new modalities to improve treatment. Dr. Runheim is particularly dedicated to supporting individuals with pain, neurological conditions, and those striving to improve their quality of life. He has a specific focus on helping patients return to physical activity, sports, and recreational pursuits, enabling them to fully engage in and enjoy their lives.

Outside of his practice, Dr. Runheim enjoys spending time with his family, including his two active children, and is passionate about running, biking, golf, ice hockey, tennis, pickleball and soccer.
